Here in the valley, water is literally the lifeblood of our economy. Water means jobs.

For residents of the Valley, all we have to do is look at the parched farmland all around us to know that we can't afford to wait any longer.

Making sure that we have a safe and reliable water supply is critical to the future of the Valley. We need to reinvest in our water infrastructure today.

We need to protect ourselves against future droughts by expanding our ability to store extra water in the wet years, so we can continue to grow food in the dry years. I will fight to build water storage across California, including a dam at Temperance Flat. But building a dam could take a decade. I am proposing water solutions we can put in place today.

Let's raise existing reservoirs to increase water storage and clean up existing groundwater so we can use the water we already have.

I believe the state needs to be an active partner with farmers in dealing with the current drought. Let's give farmers a tax credit for installing water conservation upgrades, which save both water and money.
